Gorushka
The ongoing story of the restoration of
the Church of the Kazan Mother of God in the village of Gorushka,
which was badly damaged during the years of Soviet rule.
At the beginning of the 17th century
the inhabitants of the village managed to gather and repel the attack
of a detachment of Poles led by Lzhedmitri II, but later the Poles
returned and brutally killed the entire population of the village.
Just before the revolution at the
beginning of the 20th century, a large church was built in the center
of the village of Gorushka, under which a nunnery was organized. In
Soviet times the temple was a club, a shop and a warehouse. Then it
was completely abandoned and actively destroyed. Today the convent
has been restored, 5 nuns live in it. Around the monastery there is a
settlement, which was rebuilt after the war with the Poles. Life in
and around the monastery runs in two parallel streams.
